60 WRD/MIN ART CRITIC trailer from Arthouse at the Jones Center on Vimeo.
In the face of a challenging age of publishing, with newspapers and magazines alike finding it difficult to stay afloat, where o where is an artist to be reviewed these days? Well, if you're in one of several cities art critic Lori Waxman (Chicago Tribune, Art Forum) is touring, you can walk right up and get a critique of your work on a first-come, first-serve basis, no strings attached. Well, unless you consider the risk of a non-favorable review a string. Crits are published and hung in the gallery for the duration of Lori's "performance", and published through the local paper.
This video was taken (not by me) at the Austin, Texas Arthouse a year ago... but this weekend Lori is in Kansas City... and she is also continuing her offerings of crits for the masses in venues in North Carolina, Oregon, Alabama, Minneapolis, and Puerto Rico. If she pops up in your neighborhood, reserve a slot early. These days artists are apparently hungry for feedback - the schedule fills up fast.
